PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
Increase your diving experience and knowledge with the PADI Advanced Open Water course. Under the expert guidance of one of our instructors, you'll learn new skills whilst visiting some of Rarotonga's best dive sites. As a qualified Open Water diver, this is a great way to get more dives under your belt whilst still being supervised. The course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.
To qualify as an Advanced Open Water Diver you complete five adventure dives and associated knowledge reviews. There are no compulsory videos to watch and no boring theory sessions in front of a chalk board! The qualifying dives must include Deep and Underwater Navigation, plus three options that you select. In total, the course takes three days.
What's involved
The PADI Advanced Open Water course takes three half days, the standard option is as follows:
- Homework: Before each dive we'll ask you to read the appropriate section on the Adventures in Diving manual and complete the knowledge review
- Theory: The only theory involved is the knowledge reviews and a review of any questions you get wrong. NO exam, you'll be pleased to hear!!
- Boat dives: The 5 boat dives are completed over 3 half days
- Certification: When you have completed the course we will take your photo and issue you with a temporary certification document. You will then receive your shiny new PADI Advanced Open Water qualification card direct from PADI in the post.
Alternatively you can complete this course with PADI e-learning as follows:
- E-Learning: Before you visit the island, sign up for e-learning on the PADI website (you pay for this seperately)
- Theory: The theory is all completed online. Once you have finished, print out your e-learning record and bring it with you!
- Boat dives: The 5 boat dives are completed over 3 half days, there is no theory to do on the island. Remember to book your dives before you start your PADI e-learning course, just to make sure we have availability
- Certification: Just like the previous option, when you have completed the course we will take your photo and issue you with a temporary certification document. You will then receive your shiny new PADI Advanced Open Water qualification card direct from PADI in the post.
